Mannatech Presents Glyconutritional Technology At U.S. Patent And Trademark Office Technology Fair
COPPELL, TX, Oct 08, 2001 (INTERNET WIRE via COMTEX) -- ( NASDAQ:MTEX) Mannatech, Inc. was one of twelve leading companies invited to participate in a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Technology Fair to help educate more than 400 patent examiners in current cutting edge technologies for which they review patents.
Mannatech was the only representative from the dietary supplement industry at the fair. Mannatech's Chief Science Officer, Dr. Bill McAnalley, presented an update on the science of glyconutritionals in which he discussed the recently published GlycoScience & Nutrition journal article, "GlycoScience: State of the Science Review" (Vol. 2, No. 13, June 22, 2001).
Eileen Vennum, Editor-in-Chief of GlycoScience.com, presented information on the patent-pending GlycoScience.com web site. This user-friendly site makes available science related to nutritional sugars and glycoprotein synthesis as well as information on glyconutrients and other functional dietary supplement ingredients. During the fair Mannatech demonstrated the use of the GlycoScience.com site from a booth set up for this purpose.
The companies selected to share information with the patent examiners are all innovators in their fields. These included medical therapeutics and diagnostics, personalized medicine, systems to manage complex genetic information, molecular bioengineering, chemical manufacturing, technology for the discovery of new materials, agribusiness.
