'Let's look at evidence against the "glucose only theory". This theory assumes that all of us produce the enzymes we need every day in order to convert glucose into any of the known necessary saccharides. There are those doctors who believe that humans always produce sufficient enzymes either to fulfill the "glucose only theory" or to simply transfer glyconutrients to their intended healthy destination. Dr. John Axford has shown that people with rheumatoid diseases he has tested do not have a key enzyme in sufficient balance to deliver a key glyconutrient.
Whether the "glucose only theory" really works or not, there is an unquestioned connection between disease processes in the diseases thus far tested and deficiencies of glyconutrients. In fact, one scientist has developed a method of testing for this connection that he calls "Sugar Printing."
This modern day medical detective is one of the most respected researchers in the area of glycobiology. he is John S. Axford, BS, MD, FRCP(Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians). Dr. Axford serves on the editorial boards of three medical journals and on numerous medical and health related committees........ He is actively involved with research in rheumatology and is especially interested in the glycobiology of arthritic diseases.
Dr. Axford studied the relationship of the enzyme that facilitates the transfer of the glyconutrient galactose (not lactose) to its intended destinations in rheumatoid disease, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosis (SLE). Dr. Axford observed that an enzyme call galactosy/transferase and the glyconutrient galactose were both lower in patients with RA and SLE than in the healthy people designated as "controls". He also noted that the severity of the disease was directly related to the degree of deficiency of galactose.
Dr. Axford has been able to show that each rheumatic disease tested thus far with his sugar printing method has a unique "sugar print". Since 1965, a great deal has been studied regarding glyconutrients. However, at this point in time, very little is known about unlocking all of the secrets and the codes. Dr. Axford's sugar printing isn't just interesting - it is extremely important and could someday lead to doctors being able to not only diagnose but also predict many diseases by the distinct print left by the presence or absence of the glyconutrients in the blood.'
